The GEDI program works to engage and support students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the field of evaluation. Our goals are to:
Expand pool of graduate students of color and from other underrepresented groups who have extended their research capacities to evaluation
Stimulate evaluation thinking concerning underrepresented communities and culturally responsive evaluation
Deepen the evaluation profession's capacity to work in racially, ethnically and culturally diverse settings

In its most recent report, UNAIDS estimates over 1.4 million people in Tanzania are HIV positive. Urban centers have been hit much harder that rural areas with some neighborhoods reporting adult infection rates as high as 40%. ELI works with a community center in the Tandale neighborhood of Dar es Salaam where volunteers can assist with HIV prevention activities as well as support activities for HIV positive community members.

Volunteer in Ecuador with a conservation project. Few countries have the biodiversity that can be found in Ecuador. Unfortunately, there are grave threats to that diversity. Volunteers work with local organizations devoted to conservation activities including reforestation, animal rescue, wildlife repopulation, limiting invasive species, and finding environmentally sustainable income sources for locals.

Intern and gain hands-on experience in Cusco or the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru. As an intern, you will work abroad with a local community organization in the fields of the environment, health care, or social/economic development. Your project is determined by community need as well as your skills and interests.

Provide basics to the local communities in the area of Mysore, such as food and shelter. Go one step further to address deeper issues in areas such as illiteracy and lack of support for individuals with disabilities, through educational workshops and classes to the local community.
