MDG 4 & 5 CHILD AND MATERNAL HEALTH
Discussions pertaining to MDGs 4 & 5 and specific countries, organizations, groups or individuals that work towards either of these goals will take place here. As delineated by the United Nations, the fourth and fifth Millennium Development Goals are as follows: The fourth goal is to Reduce Child Mortality with the target of reducing by 2/3 the under-five mortality rate between 1990 and 2015. The fifth goal is to Improve Maternal Health by 1) Reducing by 3/4 between 1990 and 2015 the maternal mortality ratio, and 2) Achieving by 2015 universal access to reproductive health.

More than 800,000 anti-malaria bed nets arrived today in Zambia. These beds have been distributed three months ahead of scheduled. This was possible thanks to the Zambia Government, the World Bank, UNICEF, Stanbic Bank Zambia, part of the Standard Bank Group and the United Nations Foundation, supported by the African Leaders Malaria Alliance and the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Malaria.
