On November 21 at t the Centre for Community Based Research in Kitchener (Canada) there was a meeting with participation of representations of the local government, Wilfrieed Laurier University, University of Waterloo, CIGI and IGLOO, local community organizations and staff from the Centre for Community Based Research. Dr. Marek Wosinski represented UCP-SARnet.
This was already the second meeting. During the first participants discussed the goal for the conference and a logistic for search for partners in organization of the event. During the second we had a discussion clarifying the mission of the conference, as well as basic assumptions about its format.
It seems that at this point we want to concentrate on a few of global issues and discuss them from various perspectives (academic, governmental, business, multicultural, community level, etc). The plan is to organize the conference in a way that will allow interacttions between participants (e.g. by setting people at round tables allowing interpersonal interactions, creating opportunities for discussion meetings, etc). We kindly invite your suggestions regarding both themes and structure of the conference. There will be a survey sent by various channels to ask for opinions in these matters.
We are also discussing organization of video conferences around the world to allow participation in at least some of the sessions for people who cannot travel but want to be a part of the dialog happening at the conference.
The idea of bringing our effective Regional Coordinators was enthusiastically approved. Already in initial stages of organization of the conference will will inform potential presenters that that all conference presentations will be published on our portal, and that we will provide interactive page for each presentation.
