International Leadership Summit in China 2012 @ SIAS
When? July 1st - 23rd, 2012
Where? SIAS International University, CHINA
Jerrie Ueberle, founder and President of Global Interactions (located in North Scottsdale) dropped by today's meeting accompanied by Kyle, a life coach/business coach and Josh, who is originally from China and attended SIAS University for his undergraduate studies. Josh is currently an ASU student working on a Masters in Public Administration.
We discussed the importance of Women in achieving the MDG's. Countries where women have been liberated are the most advanced and developed places in the World. The World Academy for the Future of Women, which Jerrie and Global Interactions are greatly involved in, is a program at SIAS that aims to train and to empower women to take their role in the global arena. The Women that take part in the program have the opportunity to discuss and form opinions on world events that are male-dominated. Women perspectives are essential to global development; Equality, Equity, and Freedom for Women are key to freeing the world from the problems we face and key to accomplishing the Millennium Development Goals.
Jerrie brought along some handouts on the International Leadership Summit - important dates and details - and also an agenda on what needs to be done to raise awareness for that event:
Website - Karan needs to create a World Academy for the Future of Women website and also have links to the Summit information off of the UCP-SARnet Homepage. The webpage for the summit that is directly off of the Global Interactions Website also needs to be updated ASAP. As we go along, and as the information becomes available, we will need to update the pages to include details on the presenters, moderators, and the program of events for the 2012 Summit.
Brochure - We've made a draft of the flyer which Jerrie had the opportunity to look over. We discussed what can be done to improve on this. Jerrie will be sending us some photos to add to the brochure/flyer. And we will be handing these out next week at the STAND-UP event to begin our first round of advertising.
Marketing Network - We all need to contact universities and organizations in the US and around the world, and as many people as possible at ASU to advertise the event. We also encourage all UCP-SARnet members to spread the news on the event once we make details available over the next week.
Timeline - Right now we are mainly interested in the October 27th deadline for the first flyer and first round of advertisements; we will go into more details on timing next week.
Jerrie will grace us with her presence in our next meeting as well so that we may further decide on the steps to take for the Summit planning and advertising. A warm Thank You to Jerrie, Kyle and Josh for their input and insights this meeting.
