In association with the Wrold Conference on Higher Education, UNESCO together with Microsoft Office organized the Education Leaders Forum on. "Higher Education: Re-Visioning for Recovery. The Path for Sustainable Development".
UCP-SARnet was represented at the Education Leaders Forum 2009 held jointly by UNESCO and Microsoft, following UNESCO's World Conference on Higher Education on July 09th at Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. We joined ministers, education policy leaders and experts from around the world for a working conference on the theme of 'Higher Education: Re-Visioning for Recovery. The Path to Sustainable Development'.
The Forum offered government leaders the opportunity to apply what participants have learned from the WCHE, to explore Higher Education's role as key enabler for sustainable social, economic and environmental development, and to work on an action plan for short and longer term recovery. It enabled participants to reflect on announcements addressing Higher Education support, made at WCHE, that may be applied for circumstances in their countries.
The Forum program included, among others, presentations and debate lead by UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education, Nicholas Burnett, Microsoft Corporate Vice President Anoop Gupta, leading author on Higher Education change Professor Geoffrey Scott, the Commonwealth of Learning's President and CEO Sir John Daniel, the New Media Consortium's CEO Larry Johnson, OECD's Head of the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation Dirk van Damme, and leading University of Helsinki Cognitive Researcher Professor Kirsti Lonka. The debate and discussions will be supported by the renowned facilitator Robert Mittman. Please CLICK HERE for the Agenda of the Forum.
