An article updates the progress that Egypt is taking in order to eradicate poverty, among the 7 other goals of the MDG's. Overall, this article displays the steps Egypt is taking towards achieving the MDG's.
The two most prominent themes in the article include; the decreasing of poverty (along with hunger) , and the status of women within the country. An iniatiative that has been recently started in Egypt is the Healthy Mother, Healthy Child Act, which aims at stopping maternal and neonatal death. Overall, the results of the program which began in 1993 show a significant decrease of death among women in poverished cities. Along with this act, poverty among women has been targeted. Education and rising the standard of living is an important goal of the Prime Minister, simply eradicating the poverished will not help the country is his belief.
