Hi I'm Ignacio. I also go by Eric. My educational background is primarily in Pychology. I am graduating in December 2009 with my BA in Psychology. I plan to go to graduate school to get my Masters in Clinical Psychology. I worked for the MESA MARC Center for 2 years as a CLS Direct Support Provider. Primary responsibilities was to assist and guide developmentally disabled adults with their everyday tasks.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish and fluent in both languages. In the past I was a therapist for autistic children administering behavior modification therapy.
I enjoy working with people and helping people, especially those that may struggle getting from point A to B.
I have served Thanksgiving dinner to homeless people in downtown Phoenix, Az. I always donate clothing to Salvation Army and food to food drives.
One of my interests is to work with the community. I have volunteered my time to a Native American tribe in the valley to assist with miscellaneous activities on weekends. I would like to be like a big brother to children who do not have someone to encourage them to succeed and find ways to better themselves. I would also like to be a parent advocate to help them stay motivated and focused on their life priorities and to help their children succeed.
With my Masters degree I would like to get into child development and clinical counseling. I believe that many peoples lives take a turn in the wrong direction when they are children so that is a good place to start the prevention/intervention process.
