About

Ana Afshari was born in Oklahoma to Iranian parents who migrated to the United States in 1977. It wasn't until she started kindergarten when she was 4 years old that she even learned to speak English. Due to her ethnic background, Ana was aware at a very young age of the social injustices that exist not only around the world, but in her own backyard as well. This knowledge was the driving factor behind Ana's curiosity to understand the processes of human behavior. Ana graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in August 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minor in Business.

During her time at Arizona State University, Ana held roles as a Teaching Assistant to Dr. Marek Wosinski and Research Assistant to both Dr. Marek Wosinski and Dr. William Fabricius. Since May 2006, she has worked as a volunteer for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization where she is a mentor to a child with an incarcerated father. Her many areas of interest range from women's issues to homelessness to mental illness, and she is considering a variety of graduate school programs. Ana's ultimate goal is to teach at the college/university level and inspire others to be the force for change.
