Regional Coordinators
VISION
Regional Coordinators are an integral part of our Global Team. They represent UCP-SARnet in their respective regions and are ambassadors of their region in our global network. The role of a Regional Coordinator is to facilitate collaboration and activities that aid in the actualization of UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in their region.
We envision having one coordinator in each region (a region can be defined as a country, province, city, or district, ect.) where we have UCP-SARnet members, and where there are community organizations addressing one or more of the MDGs.
To effectively fulfill this role, each Regional Coordinator is expected create a Regional Team by nominating Assistant Coordinators who will assist him/her in realization of everyday tasks. In the case there will be several Regional Coordinators in one country they should create a Country Team moderated each year by a different Regional Coordinator. UCP-SARnet's long-term goal is to foster organized, skillful, and knowledgeable Country Teams so they may register as NGOs (for instance UCP-SARnet India). Such registration would provide Country Teams with the legal status necessary for obtaining funding to support local community projects.
Regional Coordinators must make a commitment to volunteer for at least a two-year term, Assistant Coordinators may agree to serve a shorter term or be appointed for a specific project. Although currently these are unpaid volunteer positions, registration of a Country Team as a local NGO may open perspectives for paid jobs.
