The purpose of STAND UP events is to increase awareness about the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and motivate involvement in eradicating poverty around the world.  Last year, when UCP-SARnet began involvement in the STAND UP Campaign, the events were especially meaningful as on September 20-22 there was a plenary summit of UN devoted to MDGs. It is our hopes to organize STAND UP events annually in all countries where UCP-SARnet has members. Full realization of MDGs till the year 2015 will require citizens involvement and  collaboration between governments, universities and community organizations worldwide .

Answering a call by the UN Millenium Campaign   UCP-SARnet  has organized a few STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY events in collaboration with the Arizona State University (USA), SIAS International University (China), Youth Alliance, United Planet, and NAYD (Gambia & Cameroon) and AASRA (India).
