The impact of Ghana's social, cultural and economic contexts in the realization of the MDG is one of complication. Ghana provides a diverse array of positives and problems concerning the battle against AIDS. In Ghana's larger cities there have been visible improvements in the reduction of AIDS. There are many successful education programs, in home visits for care and testing going on. These efforts provide great success in the realization of MDG. However, in many of the smaller rural villages these efforts have been less seen which has created a bit of disparity between sections of Ghana. In rural areas villagers and tribes have much less access to education and care. Many of these rural communities lack funding to improve their situation. Many of the rural areas are left out of in home care due to the long travel distances. Many of these rural tribes also lack education about AIDS and do not understand ramifications of its spread, let alone how to prevent it from doing so. The cost of care is also a strain for those in and out of major cities, where many do not have the funds for proper medication or other medical treatments. One additional cultural barrier to the realization of the eradication of AIDS in Ghana is that many within Ghana view women as a less powerful gender. This disparity has hurt AIDS elimination efforts as men feel they have the right to have sex with whomever they please, despite the woman's desire. This is more so in rural areas where African tribes still practice, but within the cities as well. There are also human trafficking concerns in Ghana which raise barriers to meeting the MDG as woman and children are the most at risk and often used for sexual abuse in these trafficking transactions.
