Friends is an organization based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia that seeks to help “street children in Cambodia. Though Cairo’s paper focuses on mental health and well being, there are striking similarities between the goals of the Opo Yeye study and the mission and practice of Friends. The programs executed by Friends are related to mental health and mental well being for the reason that many of the program components server to develop and maintain positive health in general. However, as stated in the text, one of the “biggest” lessons learned was that spirituality and tak’taki were the two leading factors in this study; Friends does not promote spirituality in a direct manner, nor does it follow the inertia of community members’ activities. Friends, more or less organizes events and programs for members to participate in. The concept of tak’taki, bringing together necessary elements to create an environment of engagement and to flow with the energy produced, not “force it,” may provide a more natural helaing environment compared to a more static and systematic approach.
